First Day on Weight Watchers Points Plust 2012

I don’t know what to say about today’s meeting at Weight Watchers. Saturday’s at WW can get hectic but today was crazier than any WW weekly meeting I’ve ever attended. And anyone that has attended WW meetings in January know what new year’s resolutions do to the WW meeting rooms. But apparently the frenzy to join the new Points Plus 2012 program was more than anyone expected. I arrived to a huge line up at the scales and luckily managed to get weighed before the start of the meeting.

There have been a lot of rumours as to what Weight Watchers 2012 will offer its members, what’s new, what’s changed, what’s the same and for the first time I am at a loss for words. I weighed (lost .5 lbs – which on a week filled with holiday parties and dinners was awesome!) and got my package of new material. I took my material to my usual spot and chatted with my meeting friends. The line got longer and longer, our leader was behind the counter helping sign everyone in and at meeting time she asked everyone to sit down and promised to sign them in after the meeting.

The new meeting flip charts are pretty, but didn’t have much information in them. This is a new week of a program with many changes and it didn’t really speak to this. The biggest changes to the Weight Watchers Points Plus 2012 program are in the Daily Points Target, the number changed for many people. Mostly from what I saw those who had 29 points plus values for the day now have 26 and most over 30 points per day found that there targets remained the same or went up by 1. But no one knows what WW changed in the formula to calculate the Daily Points Target it is still based on age, height and weight, we just know that they were recalculated for every member in Week 1. The other news is that the target is now flexible. But since my leader was overwhelmed by the number of people lining up at the scales and had to move into the new PowerStart session this discussion was cut short. Which brings me to the PowerStart session. The session was called PowerSpaces which talked about preparing your home, car and workplace for you program. Helpful information yes. But it is just a meeting topic at the end of the day? I would expect these PowerStart sessions to be more informative about PROGRAM usually you stay after the meeting for program knowledge? My leader who is normally cool collected and on top of things, was frazzled and looked stressed by the end. It was loud and she managed to shout over everyone to get the topic out but man I don’t know about this new format. It is like squeezing two meeting topics into one. I don’t know how new members with now Points Plus knowledge whatsoever are going to deal with all the information or lack of knowledge provided.

So now I have to read through all the materials that we got today and get refocused for my first week on Weight Watchers Points Plus 2012. Hopefully next week will be more organized a lot of people disappear the weeks of Christmas and New years so it may quiet down. Personally I’ve adjusted two things on my e-tools program. I adjusted my daily points target 3 points lower and I turned of Activity Points swapping so now I collect points for activity but don’t use them. Hopefully this will work for me as I did a bit of yo-yoing in the last months of the year and I want to jump start things. Since I didn’t get a chance to discuss this with my leader as the material says you should — I guess we will see how it goes this week.
