Well week one was a success. Despite the confusion and chaos at week one’s meeting, I pulled myself together read all the material and tracked all week long. I might have missed a few little nibbles here and there it is Holiday Season after all, oh and then there was the cookie baking I did all week and the little bits of cookie dough that may have accidentally jumped into my mouth. But despite all that, I managed to drop 0.9lbs this week.
For those of you who haven’t heard, the Weight Watchers Points Plus 2012 program launched last week and well now that the dust has settled not much has changed really, the points are the same, tracking the same, fruits and vegetables are still zero points, there are these PowerStart program sessions (which I’ll get to more in a minute) and the changes were really about the Daily Target.
Daily Target Changes – How was Your week?
For those who were at the 29 point mark most went down to 26 points and loved it. Many of my meeting participants agreed that 29 was just too much for them. For me I was raised up to 33 points from 32 (I’m a fat member trying to lose over 100lbs) and I decided to use the Points Plus 2012 flexibility and lower my target to 30 points I also turned off the Activity Points swapping feature on my e-tools so I was not eating my activity points. The result was a 0.9lb loss which at this time of the year is pretty awesome in my mind.
As expected a lot of people took their new program materials last week and have dissapeared, we probably won’t see them back until the new year, but most of us that did show up today were pretty happy to drop some, even if it was only points at a time any loss this time of year is a pretty big deal. Which makes me wonder as a member who was yo-yoing all the way through 2011 did Weight Watchers miscalculate it’s daily points targets for its members? It will be interesting to see how my weight loss will be after the Holidays when I’m back to my normal routine and tracking?
PowerStart Sessions
We had our second PowerStart session this week and I have to say I’m over them already. They are pretty useless to me. We went over the same stuff from last week basically saying the points are the same, do activity and going over program basics. Then we got a second PowerStart tracker and I was sorry I gave up another 20 minutes of my life for it. Next week will be the last of these sessions and then they will repeat in cycle and I won’t be attending them again. The problem in our meeting is, as she starts the PowerStart session people are already coming in from the next meeting so it gets loud and chaotic and she starts talking loudly over them and we are like over the whole PowerStart thing and were ready to bail. In fact many people did and I’m thinking next week I’m taking my third pamphlet and bolting!
If any of you are following WW I would love to hear how the program is working/not working for you share your comments.
